Trying to think about life and how God makes it full

Classic Rock Memories

Aaaahhh, just been listening to Virgin Classic Rock, and reminiscing….

They’ve just been paying bands like:

  • Steely Dan
  • Bruce Springsteen
  • AC/DC
  • Bob Dylan
  • The Doors
  • Deep Purple
  • Jimi Hendricks

All the stuff I used to listen to when I was growing up. It’s amazing how clearly the memories come flooding back when you hear a particular song – its a bit like smells, and how powerful they are in bringing memories right back to the front of your mind.

Makes me want to go surfing again…..

  2. Hi Pete,
Not completely sure about Si’s yet.
When do you want to come and visit? Send me an email.
Heel is healing well, and am just using a walking stick now, though its still quite painful at times.
    Thanks for following along matey.
I think the smell that would remind me of you most Pete, is wet dog fur!

  3. Another wonderful sharing of your life. You do appear to experience your love of music and sailing as being totally integrated with your Christian Faith – and rightly so.

I very much enjoyed the stage musical of “Billy Elliot” last year, and the comments of its music writer Elton John:
“Art can inspire you. It can transform lives. Art can make you look at life in a way you never have before. And art can takes you places well beyond your wildest dreams”
(I wonder if the same comments are made by most people about religion?)

“Billy Elliot” of course is a modern day myth or fairy tale – but to see Billy literally dance his way out of the bleak and cruel environment created by the ending of the British mining industry was inspirational. And such triumphs of the human spirit occur daily – something else to celebrate at Christmas.

All my comments to date have mentioned Christmas. One of my own ways of celebrating Christmas is by attending the annual pantomime at the Theatre Royal in Stratford. But I shall leave my comments on that for another day.
